The thing that people tend to find most interesting about me is that I am a US Figure Skating Judge. I travel A LOT to judge. (I was in France in February and Switzerland in March plus all over the US before, after and in between!) I haven't met a craft yet that I didn't like but scrapbooking, quilting and some of my other passions don't really mix well with an airplane. However, beading is a great way to pass the time on a plane. I have mini tools which fit TSA standards and Beadalon's sticky mats so my beads don't end up rolling down the isle (although I will admit, I've lost a few here and there along the way!) My best friend on the plane is my bead stopper! I do mostly stringing and stitching on the planes and then do my wire working at home. For projects like the cuff bracelet I make the cuff at home then do the embellishing on the plane. TSA isn't too keen on hammers and I'm sure the rest of the passengers don't really want to hear me pounding!
I was in a shop somewhere in my travels and saw a necklace that I liked but was, in my opinion, way too expensive. I inspected it and decided that I could make it myself. I made it and, as the saying goes, the rest is history!
When I'm not judging or beading I'm hanging out with my awesome husband of 22 years or running with San Diego Track Club. I am currently training for my 8th marathon which I will run on May 31 here in San Diego.
