TwoCan Clay Designs by
Janet Pitcher
Janet began her interest in art at an early age growing up in a very
artistic family. Although she always wanted to be a fashion designer,
she studied for a career in retail buying receiving a BS in Business
with a minor in marketing from Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. After many
years in retail sales and management as well as outside sales, she
discovered Polymer Clay as a hobby. When her friends began to
ask to buy her jewelry, her journey into a new business as a jewelry
designer began.
Janet creates the detailed designs involved in the shaped millefiori
beads. She blends the clay to create new color palettes then use
that clay to build complex canes which are then reduced by hand to
the size desired for each bead. The canes are then sliced, formed,
cured, drilled, sanded and buffed to the desired finish. The jewelry is
accented with beautiful lampwork glass, semi-precious stones, and
precious metal beads to achieve the finished piece. She enjoys
creating new designs and turning the colorful beads into wearable
art.
Janet is now joined by her husband and manager Mark to complete
the team of TwoCan Clay. They enjoy traveling and working together
to promote their fun and whimsical designs to the public.
Janet has been working with polymer clay since 1997.  Her work has
been showcased on DIY Jewelry as well as the Carol Duvall Show
and featured in many print publications as well. She has served as a
leader of the San Diego Polymer Clay Guild as well as a member of
the National Polymer Clay Guild.  In addition to selling her jewelry
designs and beads in both wholesale and retail environments, she
also offer classes for all ages and experience levels. More of her
work can be seen at www.twocanclaydesigns.com.
